Empower the monkeys — help them own their home.

The primates of Monkeyland deserve to own the forest they live and thrive in — but right now, humans hold the title. You can help change that. For just R90 ($5), you can buy a square meter of forest for them, securing their future on the land they call home. While tax-relief certificates are available for qualifying South African donors — especially larger contributors and corporates — every contribution, big or small, helps protect their forest forever.

Is it legal for animals to own land? Yes — this is a legally sound and transparent agreement, where the monkeys themselves are named as the buyers and the humans as the sellers.

This campaign is backed by a binding agreement between the landowners and SAASA, the organisation acting as the primates’ official voice. The contract was drafted by Fluxmans Attorneys, one of South Africa’s leading legal firms, and the entire process is independently scrutinised by Mazars, a top-five and fully untainted auditing company.

By helping, you become part of a groundbreaking real-estate initiative where animals — not humans — are the beneficiaries.

Each square meter you purchase for the primates is individually numbered and recorded. You’ll receive a unique donation reference linked to the exact square meters you funded, reflected on your tax certificate (where applicable).

Your support directly protects the future of more than 700 primates — monkeys, lemurs, and apes from around the world — who rely on this forest for their safety and survival. By contributing, you participate in a pioneering real-estate model that transfers land ownership to the animals themselves.

Each square meter you fund is precisely documented and assigned a unique reference number. This reference is linked to your contribution and can be included on a tax certificate where applicable

SQUARE METRES FOR ANIMALS

You may wonder why we’re doing this — why we’ve taken on legal agreements, audits, and an entirely new model of conservation. The reason became clear after March 2020. Covid didn’t affect the primates directly, but it changed the world around them. Tourism declined, money became tight, and we were forced to confront a harsh truth: the land Monkeyland sits on could one day be worth more to developers than to the animals who depend on it.

It would take very little for this forest to be turned into luxury estates — profitable for humans, devastating for the primates who rely on every tree, every path, every corner of it to survive. That realisation changed everything. If these animals are to have a guaranteed future, the land must belong to them, not to whoever comes next.

Because where would more than 700 sentient beings go? They live in bonded family groups. They form lifelong connections. They have finally found safety. Their future cannot hinge on the next property sale or the next investor’s priorities.

And this is where you step in. You can help secure their forever home — a forest that will belong to them for generations to come.

Each square meter you purchase becomes part of the 216,000 needed for the primates to own their sanctuary outright. Your R90 ($5) isn’t small here; it’s part of a collective force. Every square is recorded. Every square matters. Every square protects a life.

Be part of the 216,000. Be part of the change. Be part of the reason these primates are never pushed out of the only safe home they have ever known.

Just as the LGBTQ+ community has shown how unity and shared purpose can reshape the world and ensure no one is left behind, we ask you to extend that same spirit to these animals. They, too, deserve to be safe, rooted, and protected — forever.

Help the monkeys to become empowered. Help them to own their own land. Do so here.

By helping them, you’re safeguarding the future of more than 700 extraordinary primates — monkeys, lemurs, and apes from every corner of the world — who now depend on this forest as their only true home.
